Admissions Criteria/Requirements

Early Admission - To be eligible for the accelerated program, you should have:

  • A cumulative minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.25
  • Completed at least 15 credit hours in Human Services
  • Completed a minimum of 60 hours of undergraduate course credit
  • Apply for accelerated graduate program admission: go.eiu.edu/acceladmit

Shared Coursework

This opportunity is open to Human Services majors and those with minors in Human Services, Financial Literacy, and Aging Studies. Students accepted into the Accelerated Program for the MS in Human Services may take the following courses for up to 9 hours of shared credit undergraduate and graduate credit.

  • HSL 4770 - Family Budgeting and Debt Management : 3 hrs
  • HSL 4775 - Human Services Programs and Resource Management : 3 hrs
  • HSL 4820 - Death and Dying Credits : 3hrs
  • HSL 4845 - Family Stress and Resilience : 3 hrs
  • HSL 4846 - Aging and the Family. Credits : 3hrs
  • HSL 4850 - Human Services Programs: Community, Culture & Intersectionality : 3 hrs
  • HSL 4854 - Leadership in Family Life Education : 3 hrs
  • HSL 4859 - Administration of Youth and Family Services Programming : 3 hrs
  • HSL 4860 - Addictions and the Family : 3 hrs
  • HSL 5100 - Societal Theories of Aging : 3 hrs
  • HSL 5400 - Aging Policies in Action : 3 hrs
  • HSL 5460 - Issues and Trends in Human Services Programming : 3hrs
  • HSL 5230 - Special Topics : 1, 2, or 3 hrs
  • HSL 5235 - International Special Topics : 1 hr

Please note that stated prerequisites will need to be completed before enrolling in the courses. Please work with your undergraduate academic advisor in the selection of shared courses. Once admitted to the Accelerated Graduate Program, complete the Course Request Form.
